Study #20: YOD

Study #20: YOD

YOD AS GOD’S RIGHT HAND

We have learnt YOD refers to God’s right hand – where Jesus is now seated – a place of utmost honour and irrresistible power – where everything and everyone are subjected under His feet as it were.

But is it a princeling’s seat of lesser honour or a place of unprecedented equality with God the Father?

This theological puzzle was unravelled by Jesus Himself before the Pharisees ( Matthew 24:41-45 ). He told them that Psalm 110:1 could not possibly refer to the sons of David as David who penned Psalm 110:1 called Him Lord. Indirectly He was telling them that He was in effect their Messiah whom God called Lord – to sit beside Him at His right hand in a position of equality.

Heavenly Father, You bestowed upon Jesus this singular honour to be seated at Your right hand ( YOD ) in a position of equality with You. Paul grasped this revelation in Ephesians 1:20-22 in such sublime words:

Ephesians 1:22-23 King James Version (KJV)

22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
