FIVE DAY MIRACLE
(PART 2)
By Christopher Quah
In our previous article entitled Five Day Miracle, Isaiah Lim was placed under intensive care after being involved in a serious accident. In part two, he shared about how God delivered him from this near-death experience.
On the first day, Rina spent time in the hospital taking care of the unconscious Isaiah, thankfully her church members had heard of the incident and came to her aid. They volunteered to take care of her daughter while she was with her husband.
“I did my quiet time reading from Isaiah 46 to 47. I read out the passage to my unconscious husband. I then prayed in tongues, asking the Holy Spirit to open a way. I also asked Isaiah to also speak in tongues, even if he could not verbally speak it out. I believed his spirit heard me. Even though there was no expression on his face, his head moved, inched towards the side of the bed where I sat. I was very happy, and to wipe his body,’ she said.
That evening, Isaiah began to show signs of movement. Suddenly his eyes popped open, and he struggled, trying to get up from the bed.
“I thought that he had awaken but I noticed a blank look in his eyes. The nurses entered and explained to me that he was still unconscious. They needed to tranquilise him as they were afraid, he might be having a spasm,” Rina said.
Later that day, 4 people came to check on Isaiah. They were all knowledgeable specialists. One of them approached Rina.
“She asked me if I was doing anything to my husband. I told her I was just praying for him. She told me to continue and pray harder as she had never seen anyone who was in Isaiah’s condition improved so fast. She told me if you continue, he will be healed soon. Mind you, she was not a Christian,” Rina explained.

She agreed with them, as she noted that Isaiah was not acting like himself. The nurse explained that this was due to his unconscious state. She left the hospital at night, afraid and wondering what would happen to her husband. The next day, Rina did not go to the hospital. That was because Isaac who was Isaiah’s twin brother decided to replace her to care for him. He later reported to Rina some surprising incidents at the hospital. Isaiah had tried to get up from bed multiple times in order to return home. This was done in his unconscious state. He kept mumbling about returning home to find his wife and kid.

“The third day, my mother-in-law called around 5:30pm. I thought his condition had become worse as she requested for me to head to the hospital. There we met Isaac who explained the entire situation to me,” Rina continued.
“Isaiah was calling ‘sayang, sayang’ for me. It was like he was having a bad nightmare. He was like a sleepwalker, trying to get up from the bed. He even argued with Isaac unconsciously, insisting to be taken home. It was a surreal experience,” Rina added.
On the fourth day the doctors reported that they had to tie Isaiah down. The reason was he kept trying to pull all the tubes and needles out of his body even in his semi-conscious state. They had no choice but to sedate him. But to their amazement it took six shots before he finally remained still. The doctor who came to Rina, asked her to keep praying as it was indeed a miracle. The doctor herself said that she had never seen anyone improved so fast from an accident as bad as this.
It was on the fifth day that Isaiah finally regained full consciousness.
“I woke up, feeling very dizzy. I didn’t remember anything that happened during the past four days. I saw my wife beside me with the doctor. After my wife explained what had happened, I told the doctor that I was ready to go home,” Isaiah said.
The doctor was reluctant to let him leave. So she told him that if he could walk to the washroom unaided, he would be allowed to check out the following day.

“I was very weak at first from all that sleep, but I forced myself up. Even though my wife coaxed me to back down I refused and began to walk. It was one of the most tiring walks of my life. I made it to the washroom and back. After that I returned to bed,” Isaiah testified.
The medical staffs were amazed that he showed no signs of nausea or vomit, even though he had received such severe knocks on his head that might damage his brain.
On the sixth day, Isaiah had to undergo a brain scan to see if everything was alright with him.
“They told me the scan showed a slight blood clot at the side of my head. So, I was instructed not to do any stressful activities such as sports or heavy physical work. But the good news is I don’t have to do any surgery,” Isaiah explained.
Rina said her husband had changed for the better after the accident.
“He is more generous and takes more initiative in everything he does. There is a new appreciation to life for him now,” she said.
While his recovery was nothing short of miraculous, there was bad news awaiting Isaiah and his family when he got back to work. He had lost his job.

“Before this I was working in Denshi-Maruwa. I was an operator for the photo printing machine. This was my full-time job. The Panda rider job was to help increase my earnings. I lost the job during the accident because I was still on probation. They found a replacement, during my absence since I was unable to work for two weeks,” Isaiah said sadly.
This was very worrying news for the young couple as Rina had just recently left her job at Pustaka Jasa, as a stationary shop assistant, to become a full-time mother to take care of their daughter. “Thankfully some members of the Bahasa Service which I attended at Kajang Assembly of God, heard my plight and decided to help,” Isaiah explained.
Yet this is not enough to support the family of three. Isaiah still needs time to recover, and would only be able to work in October, after his second brain scan. With his last salary received in May, it is only a matter of time that the family savings will dry up.
