Study #15: HEI

HEI essentially means ” to behold ” the glory of God.

In today’s illustration, you will see the pictogram of a man who becomes one with who he worships – YHVH ( The Great I Am! ). Since HEI features twice in YHWH, we can rephrase the statement to mean ” we become who we keep on beholding” i.e. we become men and women of a great God.

This revelation holds true when we equate it to the love of God.

1. God has revealed His love through creation.

Genesis 1:26 -27 describes Man as God’s chosen vessel of honour to rule over the rest of creation. Thus through the double HEI in YHVH, God designed us to be like Him ” in His image”. In fact verse 27 tells
us: ” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them”.

2. But there is more. In Colossians 1:16 Paul wrote: ” For by Him ( Jesus ) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and FOR Him”.

Father God, not only are we created BY You in order to represent You as a chosen and honoured steward over creation but we are also created FOR You – so You can relate to us in intimacy. Indeed You are the God of Love: there is no other.
