Study #17: ZAYIN

ZAYIN IN PSALM 119

Each of the verses in the 7th stanza of Psalm 119 starts with the letter ZAYIN.

V.49 – Remember the word to Thy servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope.

V50. This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has given me life.

V.51 The proud have me in great derision, Yet I do not turn aside from Your law.

V.52 – I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, and have comforted myself.

V.53 Indignation has taken hold of me, Because of the wicked, who forsake Your law.

V.54 Your statutes have been my songs, In the house of my pilgrimage.

V.55 I remember Your name in the night, O Lord, And I keep Your law.

V. 56 This has become mine, Because I kept Your precepts.

These 8 verses tell us we have two powerful weapons in ZAYIN – the NAME OF GOD and the WORD OF GOD ( V.55 ).

Father God, though our enemies deride and scorn us, and the wicked forsake Your law, we can sing our songs of spiritual victory because Your Word is our two-edged Sword of the Spirit and Shield of Faith. Indeed “Your statutes have been my songs” ( V.54 )
