LAMED: THE GOAD OF DISCIPLESHIP ( PART 7 )

THE 5 TRAITS OF A DISCIPLE

We studied about SERVICE, LEARNING and LOVE as the traits a disciple ought to cultivate.

  1. TRUST

Today the focus is on perhaps the most difficult trait to achieve: TRUST.

To begin with, a disciple believes the gospel – and by FAITH – follows the Son of God.

We read that the essence of the spiritual life is FAITH (Hebrews 11:6). But FAITH rightly understood is less a noun (something we “have”) than a verb (something we “exercise”). In other words FAITH must develop into TRUST.

Disciples may begin by FAITH but they must end up by taking God at His Word.

Heavenly Father, our society and culture have their own definition of right and wrong. But from today’s lesson we learn that true disciples only TRUST what You have said. Indeed today’s devotion acts as a timely reminder to TRUST and obey You for, as the hymn goes, “there is no other way”.
