LAMED: THE GOAD OF DISCIPLESHIP ( PART 7 )

THE BEGINNING OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD (PART 6 )

  1. THE GOSPEL MUST BE EMBRACED

John 1: 12 – ” Yet to all who did receive Him ( Jesus ), to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God”.

We have already studied that repentance means a change of mindset that results in a life change.

Repentance is waking up to the truth of who God is, who we are, and what God has done for us – and responding accordingly.

In today’s verse, what does it mean to receive Jesus? What does it mean to believe on His Name?

The GOSPEL is not meant for an intellectual affirmation. It is not  enough to merely acknowledge there is a God. “Even demons believe that -and shudder” (James 2:19 ). James seriously challenges us in this  – for believing is more than nodding at a list of theological facts.

Heavenly Father, the Gospel is evidence that demands a response. In the natural, we exercise trust in a chair when we rest our full weight upon it. In the spiritual realm, we too must rest fully on what Jesus has done for us. We stop trusting in anyone or anything else to make us right with God. We trust in Jesus alone.
