Study #11: DALET

Study #11: DALET

There are other DOORS in life.

Psalm 141:3 speaks of the DOOR of our mouths. ” Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the DOOR of my lips”.

We know the consequences of gossip, backbiting, rumourmongering, slander and other misuses of speech. Today’s devotional warns us of the importance to know where a path leads to before that door is opened.

James speaks of the tongue in this light ( James 3: 5-6 ). ” So too the tongue is a tiny part of the body, yet it boasts of wickedness. The tongue is so placed in our body that it defiles every part of it, setting ablaze the whole of our life; and it is set on fire by Gei-Hinnom itself “.

Father God, set a guard over the door of our mouth as evil speech comes from a tongue ” full of death-dealing poison” ( James 3:8 ). Indeed we need to consider the pathway of every door we choose to open. As James warned: ” See how a little fire sets a whole forest ablaze” ( James 3:5 ).
