Study #6: BET
Before we leave off BET, allow me to share one more comment.
Essentially BET signifies the house of God. It was variously called the Tent Of Meeting, The Tabernacle of Moses, The Tabernacle of David and the Temple of Solomon. For it was His expressed desire to dwell among His people on Planet Earth. Thus He instructed Moses: “…let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them ” ( Exodus 25:1-2, 8 ).
Although Isaiah 66:1 records Him as saying: ” The heavens are My throne, and the earth is my footstool; what kind of house can You build for Me?”, He chose to manifest His Presence in the Holy of Holies among His chosen people.
They were to be His set-apart people, a holy nation, who will cause the land of Israel to encompass all the earth with His glory.
If you look at the first word of the Bible BERESHIT in Hebrew, you will find the letters of BET in it, i.e. Bet + Yod +Tav, expressing the end in the beginning as it were, His ultimate desire to dwell among and even in us.
For in Christ as our Temple we are accepted in the Beloved. Thus Christ in us – and we in Him – becomes our hope of glory ( Colossians 1:24-27 ).
Father God, BET is encoded with so many shades of meaning. May we always remain in our Temple ( Jesus ). May we in earnest hope confess that ” we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever ” ( Psalm 23:6 ). May we remember Paul’s timely reminder: “Do you not know that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom You have received from God” ( 1 Corinthians 6:19).
