Study #8: HEI

Study #8: HEI

HEI changed the life of Abraham our father of faith.

When he was 86 and still known as Abram, he fathered Ishmael by Hagar, the Egyptian maid of Sarai.

Later, God told him he would have a son of his own through Sarai ( Genesis 17 ) but God gave them a new name each – Abraham and Sarah.

When God changed their names, He essentially added the letter HEI ( the Breath of God ) to their previous names with the added prophetic dimension – they would both become the titular father and mother of nations.

Genesis 17: 5

“Your name will no longer be Abram ( “exalted father ” ), but your name will be Abraham ( “father of many” ), because I have made you the father of many nations”.

But they had to wait another 14 years – in God’s perfect timing – before the child of promise – Isaac – was born.

Father God, like Abraham we tend to lean on our arm of flesh – on our own wisdom, desires and needs to determine our own future. But what we really need is Your HEI to revive righteousness in our lives and to be led by another definition of HEI, the Holy Spirit, the Breath of God. Indeed HEI enables us to behold Your grace and mercy.
