Study #9: TET
TET looks like a receptacle with an opening from top – like a water-bag without a stopper! Or like a pregnant womb. For with its gematria of 9, it is also the number of New Beginnings e.g. as and when a child is born after 9 months of the gestation period.
This has led some prescient scholars to see TET as the Tearing of the Veil in the Temple from “top to bottom” when Jesus died on the Cross at Calvary ( Matthew 27:51 ) – an event that indeed ushered a new era in 3 progressive steps:
1. JESUS AS OUR DALET – THE DOOR (JOHN 10:9 )
Jesus passed the Brazen Altar of Sacrifice in the Outer Court and entered the entrance of the Holy Place as our Door sprinkled with the Blood of the Lamb of God, the Perfect Sacrifice.
2. JESUS AS OUR CHET – THE DOORWAY ( JOHN 14:6
Once in The Holy Place – where the light of the Golden Lampstand ( The Menorah ) has replaced natural light – He has become our Doorway into the Holy of Holies led by the Holy Spirit.
3. JESUS AS OUR TET – OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST ( HEBREWS 4:14-15 )
By His once-and-for-all Sacrifice of Self, He is our Great High Priest who lives forever to make intercession for us – unlike the Aaronic High Priest who can enter into the Holy of Holies once a year to make atonement that covers the sins of the nation for only that year.
Father God, we now can understand why Jesus described Himself as ” the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6 ). Indeed no one goes to the Father except through Him. And for us who accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour, it is a day of New Birth, New Beginnings. And the way into the Holy of Holies is now opened to all in Him.
