Study #6: KAF

Study #6: KAF

KAF WORDS: KAF ( THE OPEN PALM OF GOD)

KAF by itself has the picture meaning of a HAND. But its spelling as “Kaf Pey” has the extended pictorial meaning of a CUPPED HAND ( literally “Hand over one’s mouth!” ).

KAF thus means “to cover” or “to protect what is underneath”.

This is vividly illustrated in Exodus 33 when Moses dared to ask God an undeserved opportunity to behold His Glory. This bold request invited judgment as no sinner can behold God’s glory and live. But God told Moses that He would cover him with His Hand ( KAF ) – a sign of His benign mercy to a mortal man.

Heavenly Father, it is altogether so awesome to realise both Your Holiness and Mercy in this famous episode recorded in Exodus 33. May we always be aware – with holy reverence – this dual aspect of Your nature – as a God of Judgment and of Mercy. May we always be blessed by the protective covering of Your Kaf.
