Study #7: KAF
KAF WORDS: KAVANAH ( OUR FOCUS IN PRAYER )
KAVANAH captures the secret of prayer. It comes from the root word K-V-N ( KAF VET NUN ) which means ” to direct ” in the sense of “directing one’s heart” to God. Prayers as such must be heartfelt – from heart to heart.
We are thus encouraged to be a man or woman after God’s own heart – an accolade given to David – whose heart-felt psalms mirrored God’s heart.
Abba Father, KAVANAH teaches us to make You the focus of our prayer life in the totality of our being (i.e. in our body, soul and spirit). As Psalm 16:8 reads:
“I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved” ( KJV ).
