THE 5 TRAITS OF A DISCIPLE
- SERVICE
All disciples of Christ have 5 traits in common.
Today we shall study the first on SERVICE.
Paul advised Timothy: ” And these things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” ( 2 Timothy 2:2 ).
As we become better disciples of Christ, we are to make and serve other disciples.
This means using the abilities, resources and opportunities God gives us to extend His kingdom ( Acts 20:26 ). And investing in the lives of others as their mentors/ teachers is part of the process.
Heavenly Father, help us realise the cost and sacrifice involved in discipleship. Kathryn Kulman once famously said:” If you want a church of one thousand members, you have to die a thousand deaths”. Please enable us to heed Mark’s advice to serve like Jesus, choosing daily to give our lives away ( Mark 10:45 ).
