LAMED: THE GOAD OF DISCIPLESHIP ( PART 7)

THE BEGINNING OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD ( PART 2 )

When we put our faith in Christ, an internal change happens that affects our basic nature. Theologians call it ” regeneration”. Jesus called it being ” born again” ( John 3 ).

  1. The GOSPEL IS ALL ABOUT GOD.

The Old Testament in Psalm 103 describes God as  “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love”.

In the New Testament, the apostle John wrote: ” No one has ever seen God. But the unique One (Jesus), who is Himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us” ( John 1:18 ).

How did Jesus reveal the love of our Father God?

John 3:16 famously tells us that God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son – to die for us and save us from sin, death and the devil – so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life ( John 3:16 ).

It was Jesus’ radical message of sacrificial love that is of the essence of the gospel.

Abba Father, Jesus is the gospel as He embodies Your Good News – that through His death and resurrection, He made the way for us to have a relationship with You and experience Your love forever. For only the gospel reveals Your heart to come to us, to rescue us from our brokenness, and to powerfully transform us. Only the gospel is able to meet our deepest needs. Only the good news of Jesus brings the hope our souls most crave for.

Thus Paul could boldly proclaim:  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” ( Romans 1:16 ).
