THE HOLY SPIRIT ENABLES US TO LOVE OTHERS AS GOD LOVES US.
From our previous studies, we realise we cannot love rightly apart from God’s enabling Spirit.
In the strength, security, wonder and power of Christ’s sacrificial and unconditional love for us, we are freed to love others.
Because we are loved eternally and perfectly by our Abba Father, we have nothing to fear. We can thus concentrate to give, serve and bless others – just as Jesus did. We love because He first loved us ( 1 John 4:19 ).
More revelation of God’s love is given to us by the Holy Spirit who offers us a supernatural possibility – letting Christ reign and rule in us so that we bring forth a harvest of love – called the Fruit of The Spirit.
In Galatians 5:19-21, Paul talks of the human condition when left to itself – spelling out in depressing detail all the fleshly and wrong ways how we would act in our own selfish interests. Then he writes: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love” ( Galatians 5:22 ). Indeed the greatest hallmark of a disciple is love.
Abba Father, our saving grace is indeed to bear the Fruit of the Spirit especially love in the spiritual transformation of our spirit, soul and body ( in true Sanctification). This may resemble a lengthy and painful process of pruning but it is necessary for a fruitful harvest. Let us therefore take heed and obey Christ’s command in John 13: 34 -35
” A new command I give I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another”.
