Study #5: MEM
MEM: THE 13TH LETTER OF THE HEBREW ALPHABET
MEM AND THE DECLARATION OF JESUS AS MESSIAH ( PART 3)
The same theme of MEM (the pictorial of Life-Giving Waters) appears prophetically in the climax of our study – in the Book of Revelation 22: 17
” AND THE SPIRIT AND THE BRIDE SAY, ” COME!” AND LET HIM WHO HEARS SAY, ” COME!”. AND LET HIM WHO THIRSTS COME. WHOEVER DESIRES, LET HIM TAKE THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY”.
Earlier, the author John had been shown an Edenic vision of the New Jerusalem (Heaven on Earth) as ” a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb” in Revelation 22:1
And He had heard the glorified Christ Himself announcing: ” I am the ALEF-TAV (The Alpha and Omega in Greek), the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son” (Revelation 21:6).
Abba Father, it is so difficult for us in our mortal frames to visualise all these glorious revelations of the heavenly reward awaiting us in the New Jerusalem. Suffice to say we lay hold of the one promise Jesus made in The Sermon of the Mount when He said in Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled”.
