AYIN: THE 16TH LETTER OF THE HEBREW ALPHABET
Today we shall study what Matthew 6:22-24 teaches us about the EYE.
The quoted scripture is in the context about the love of money.
It challenges us as to which God are we serving – God or Unrighteous Mammon?
The one who has the Good Eye is the Generous Giver. He or she is blessed with more. For the more we give, the more we shall be blessed by God in return.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 English Standard Version (ESV)
6 “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
But the hardened heart is the one whose eye is darkened – he or she has the Bad Eye as both are blinded by their selfishness and are actually in spiritual darkness.
Abba Father, today’s devotion is about the Generous Giver. For You love a cheerful giver. Let us learn how to be a Generous Giver like our Lord who gave us every drop of His precious blood at the Cross – until only water ran out – as John the eye witness recorded in
John 19:34 New International Version (NIV)
