Study #30: AYIN

Study #30: AYIN

AYIN: THE 16TH LETTER OF THE HEBREW ALPHABET

THE AYIN WORD: ETZ (TREE) PART 5

THE NEW JERUSALEM (PART 6)

We are all materialistic to a certain extent. But if it is left unchecked, it will ultimately corrode our souls.

Besides Jesus, Paul also warns us about greed.

In his letter to his beloved disciple Timothy, he teaches him how to overcome the spirit of materialism.

“Command those who are rich in the present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life” (1 Tim.6:17-19).

Note the specific commands:

  1. Not to be arrogant
  2. Not to put their hope in wealth

Why? Because it is uncertain, unreliable and unable to deliver what matters most.

Instead they are commanded to:

  1. Put their hope in God
  2. Do good and be generous and willing to share.

ABBA FATHER, the reason for the aforesaid commands is that You will richly supply us all things ( material and spiritual ) and that we will lay up for ourselves a firm foundation like a treasure that supports life, hope and joy that are  “really life”.
