WILL HEAVEN BE LIKE THE WORLD WE LIVE IN NOW?

Heaven is where Jesus ascended to in full view of His disciples (Acts 1:9).

So, is Heaven up there?

What we know is that a “New Heaven” will replace the “first heaven” (Revelation 21:1). And this New Heaven will contain the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2).

According to the Bible, this is the city we long for. ” For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come” (Hebrews 13:14).

Revelation 21 lists the dimensions of this New Jerusalem as 1,400 mile cube. These dimensions for some are merely symbolic. But a scientist estimated that 20 billion people could fit into a city of that size, with each person having a 75-acre mansion!

But there is also another new entity – a New Earth (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1). Impliedly then the earth we enjoy today will be part of Heaven but infinitely more beautiful.

Father God, Paul wrote that creation is groaning as in the pains of child birth right up to the present time  waiting ” to be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:18-22). Indeed the New Earth will be a liberated and liberating place.
