I doubted God’s power to bring a loved one to salvation. Then, two inexplicable events convinced and convicted me.

By Andrew Ng

For many years I had been praying for the salvation of a loved one, but my prayer went unanswered. After some time, I had this thought, “Maybe God can’t do it!” However, a short time later, two inexplicable events happened that completely changed my mind about the God we serve.

#1: A divine connection

We were in the midst of renovating our living room and re-carpeting the floors when one of my speaker cable adapters went missing.

My stereo system uses two small Polk audio speakers with tiny ports. The original plugs of the speaker cables were too big, which is why I had the adapters made. However, the missing adapter meant I could not use the stereo system. I thoroughly searched for it, but to no avail.

The missing adapter that miraculously reappeared.

A short time later, I heard the stereo playing with both speakers working! I asked both my daughter and wife if one of them had found the adapter, but they had no idea what I was talking about.

It was a miracle; the adapter was there. I was absolutely stumped because one has to physically screw in the adapter to the cable plug and then plug the adapter into the speaker port in order for the stereo to work. None of us had done it.

Then, another incident happened shortly after that has mystified me until today.

#2: Money from heaven

My daughter wanted a new dress for her high school ball, so she prayed to the Lord to provide the money. One day soon after, she found AUD50 inside a red ang pow on her study table.

Puzzled, she asked both my wife and me if we had placed the ang pow there. We hadn’t. Her friend had come over that week; she asked him about the money, but he had no clue either.

My daughter then studied the ang pow more closely and saw in her own handwriting, “200 AUSSIE.” She immediately realised it was an ang pow she had received from her grandmother during a visit to Malaysia some time back. She remembered taking the money out and tossing the ang pow aside.

The previously discarded ang pow.

Now, the very same discarded ang pow had resurfaced on her study table with AUD50 inside.

I thought to myself, “This is money from heaven.”

I quickly gave her another AUD50 note and kept the original note and ang pow in my study as personal treasures.

Until today, both of these miracles remain fresh in my mind. I believe God showed me His mighty hand to remind me that nothing is impossible for Him. He was dealing with my doubt and unbelief.

You may be wondering: what happened to the loved one whose salvation I had been praying for. Praise God, this individual did become a believer and was baptised.

Today, I am assured without a doubt that God is real, and He is a miracle-working God.
