Study #10: ZAYIN
ESTHER’S ZAYIN ( SECRET WEAPON )
God provided Queen Esther with more than her natural beauty to save thousands of her people exiled in Persia.
If you study the Hebrew Bible, her secret weapon was actually ZAYIN (here pictured as a scepter rather than a weapon).
She must have the point of release of her life-or-death faith. In her own words, she declared: “if I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16). Thus she has to grasp the sceptre of the king to grant her favour – life for herself and her people.
Esther 4:11 reads: “All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that any man or woman who goes into the inner court to the king, who has not been called, he has but one law: put all to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden SCEPTER, that he may live. Yet I myself have not been called to go in to the king these thirty days “.
Against the odds, she acted on her faith after calling a fast for three days ( Esther 4: 16 ). ” So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favour in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden SCEPTER that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the SCEPTER” ( Esther 5:2 ).
Father God, Esther is regarded as a ” woman of valour” as mentioned in Proverbs 31.Of all the women the king could have chosen, he chose this woman of valour as the one he favoured. Just as the SCEPTER compliments the crown on his head, she too has become a crown unto her husband. Esther teaches us the need to look for our ZAYIN and grasp it like a weapon in spiritual warfare or rod of authority for the glory of God and His people. Thus we become the Bride of our King of kings.
