Study #50: LAMED
LAMED: THE GOAD OF DISCIPLESHIP: ( PART 7)
THE 5 BLESSINGS OF THE ONE NEW MAN IN CHRIST ( PART 7 )
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: FAITHFULNESS
In the epistle to the Hebrews, the author encourages beleaguered church members to keep their faith:
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”
(Hebrews 10:23 ).
This ties up with the Hebrew concept of faith and faithfulness (EMUNAH). For faith must must be coupled with the corresponding action – a life-style of faithfulness which is demonstrated by fidelity, loyalty, steadfastness, steadiness and a commitment to fulfill promises.
God is the perfect example of this kind of faithfulness. For His covenant-keeping character is on display until today as He keeps His ancient prophesied promises to His people Israel.
In Greek, Faith (PISTEOS) is defined as a “firm persuasion, to win over, conviction in the truth “.
In other words, if we are Spirit-led, we will have a growing faith that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.
Abba Father, the opposite of a life of Biblical faith is there – a life of confusion, disobedience, unbelief, lack of piety and hypocrisy. Help us to be mindful of the words of our Lord: “By their fruits you shall know them” (Matthew 7:16-20) and to keep our faith until the very end ( Revelation 2:10 ).
Revelation 2:10
Jesus told the Persecuted Church at Symrna: “… be thou FAITHFUL unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life”
