Study #3: GIMEL

Study #3: GIMEL

The placement of GIMEL (G) after BET (B) and before DALET (D) in the Hebrew Alphabet ( Alef – Bet ) has a salutary lesson for us.

GIMEL besides being a pictograph of a Camel is also the pictograph of a Foot or Shoe.

In the illustration below, GIMEL is seen leaving BET ( TENT/HOUSE ) towards DALET ( open door/ opportunity for giving ). Thus GIMEL is a good example of charity that begins from home: the rich running after the poor to make a charitable donation.

The Holy Spirit seen in GIMEL as the number 3 directs our path towards God’s open doors ( DALET ) e.g. of giving, of our calling and destiny, of our transformation and sanctification. For GIMEL with its choice to choose between doing good or evil opens the door to sin ( punishment/ eternal death ) or righteousness ( spiritual reward/ eternal life ).

Father God, this study of GIMEL prompts us to choose whom we shall serve. Let us be like Joshua who boldly confessed ” As for me and my household, we shall serve the Lord” ( Joshua 24:15 ).
