SAMECH: THE 15TH LETTER OF THE HEBREW ALPHABET

SAMECH has another pictorial meaning from its Paleo script which looks like a ladder.

It means ” to lean upon, to support “.

1. This is seen in the pictogram of a spine with side ribs as we depend on the spine to keep us upright.
2. Or it is the picture of a trellis that supports and holds up the sprouting vine.
3. Lastly it depicts a leaning staff for one’s hand to grasp and one’s body to “lean” upon to support its full weight.

These three pictorials teach us that SAMECH means a hundred per cent dependence upon God for everything we say, think or do.

Abba Father, we understand what Jesus meant by calling us to “abide” in Him. For without Him to lean upon, we can do nothing.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing
