Study #11: ZAYIN

ZAYIN AND THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

ZAYIN’S Gematria is 7.

And the 7th Commandment is the one that prohibits ADULTERY ( Exodus 20:14 )

How does ZAYIN relate to ADULTERY?

The answer is found in the pictorials for the word ZAYIN spelt in Hebrew as ZYN:

Zayin = Weapon
Yod = Hand
Nun = Life

The positive meaning is to “cut a covenant” with God ie. to establish a Blood Covenant ( a forever relationship with Him). The physical mark of its permanence will be a “lifelong” scar – like the wounds of Christ He still carries into eternity in His resurrected body as an indelible reminder of His redeeming Blood poured out for us.

But in its negative meaning, the pictorials of ZAYIN graphically portray the sin of ADULTERY as “cuting up someone’s heart ( symbol of life )”.

Father God, ZAYIN paints a beautiful picture of COVENANTAL RELATIONSHIP but an ugly one of a scarred relationship due to the sin of ADULTERY in the context of a marriage. For the latter image is tantamount to murder. That is why Your Word in Matthew 19:6 says: ” What God has joined together let no man put asunder”.
